If you are a lover of meat, you have to try this one. Schweinshaxe or “Pig Knuckle”, is a classic dish that is popular in Bavaria. There is an art to making a great Schweinshaxe. The ability to get the outer skin nice and crisp but the inner meat so soft that it falls right off the bone requires a master chef. If you are in Munich you could always order this at the world-famous Hofbrauhaus along with a liter of cold beer. Our favorite place for Schweinshaxe is a little restaurant down on the Bodensee but they are only open in the summer.
