The entire town of Trendelburg feels as though you have stepped into the pages of a storybook.

The tower of the Trendelburg Castle is known as Rapunzel’s Tower thanks to the Grimm Brothers and local legend. It is one of the highlights of the German Fairytale Road.

This is the tower where Rapunzel was kept prisoner by the evil witch and where she famously let down her long golden hair for the prince to climb up.

Inside the tower today, you can see its wooden-beamed ceiling, suits of armor and white-washed walls covered in antique works of art. It now serves as a hotel for those who want to truly relive the story of Rapunzel.

Trendelburg is a four-and-a-half-hour drive from Stuttgart and a four-hour drive from Kaiserslautern.
