Five Day Trips Around Stuttgart

Nagold

Nagold

Nagold is so delightful I’ve made it the main photo on my business card. This Black Forest town almost on the edge of Swabia has roots that date back to the Celts. Each summer they celebrate with a medieval festival that is fun and enjoyable for the whole family. The Hohennagold ruins are fantastic to hike and the panoramic view, stairs to the high tower and grounds will bring us back this summer. There is a snack hut open in the warmer months if you’d like to catch a bite too.

SIG - HohennagoldA place of interest right at the edge of town is a bar open only in summer that has sand and umbrella tables where you can sip cocktails or lay-out. I thought this was a novel idea and might have to investigate further this summer.

The walking trail and swimming pool along the Nagold river is literally a really cool and a fun place to take visitors with kids in the summer. Waterslides, a wave pool and all with the views of the town park. Nagold’s shopping and small boutiques are excellent and every Friday they host a farmer’s market on the town square. Produce, meats and cheeses can be found that are seasonal and fresh, so be sure to grab a cooler from home to stock up.
